Follow Me.
When I was in LA the other week I visited LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) in Hollywood. Some of you might remember LACE's director, Carol Stakenas, a former Deputy Director of Creative Time. I felt like I had drawn a little circle when I walked through the door and looked up to see the exploration of fashion by the LA Art Girls. One of first Creative Time installations I ever witnessed was--during Stakenas' tenure--Exposing Meaning in Fashion Through Presentation in The Anchorage in 1999. Like I said: a nice little circle.
That's not the not the only time I was reminded of Creative Time though. Stakenas' and LACE's drive to engage with the community is similarly inspiring. Their Fluxus-themed show, Draw a Line and Follow It was a feisty and full-on adventure. I go off on it here. If you're in LA, I highly recommend drawing a line and following it to LACE. They kinda rule.
