Gimme Your Hands.
Fischerspooner is the Merzbow of pop music. Merzbow, the Japanese noise artist Masami Akita, seeks to recreate for his audience the essence of the heaviest of heaviest moments from the heaviest of Black Sabbath riffs. Saturday afternoon at the Art Parade I realized that Fischerspooner has a similar mission involving a different--and appropriately more visual--moment. It's David Bowie on his knees, gnawing on the strings of Mick Ronson's Gibson. Pure Glam. Pure pleasure. Pure white heat. Fischerspooner plays the part of both Bowie and Ronson, on their knees and screaming toward the sky. Love them like you know you should.
