Jokes.
Last week the Jens Haaning Arabic Joke poster sightings began. The first was in Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.
Look! Two jokes on one wall. I saw these in the East Village at 2nd Ave and 3rd Street. One of the things that I love about public art is some of the accidental juxtapositions that can occur. (Remember this collision?) I don't think that I need to tell you how happy this one makes me.
The real treat for me was waiting online though. One of my favorite music writers, Sasha Frere-Jones, has a blog that I check regularly. Occasionally he posts photographs from around the city. Lo and behold he had posted one of the Arabic Joke posters. I'm not even sure if he knows what he captured. Which, of course, makes it even better. Here's the direct link.
